Postpone what I WANT to do for what I HAVE to do !

Here is some good thought. Simply relax and read... May be applicable for us up to some extent, if not completely....

Yesterday, I was driving, and the FM radio went off for few seconds. I thought, I should have an iPod. Then suddenly I realized that I have not used my iPod in last 6 months. And then more things, Handy cam in last 2 years, Digital Camera in last 2 months, DVD player in last 1 month and many more. Now I can say that I bought that Handy cam just out of impulse, I have used it twice only in last 4 years.

So, what's wrong and where? When I look at myself or my friends I can see it everywhere. We are not happy with what we have but all are stressed and not happy for the things we don't have. You have a Santro, but you want City You have a City, but you want Skoda. Just after buying a new phone, we need another one. Better laptop, bigger TV, faster car, bigger house, more money .I mean, these examples are endless. The point is, does it actually worth? Do we ever think if we actually need those things before we want them?

After this, I was forced to think what I need and what I don't. May be I didn't need this Handy cam or the iPod or that DVD player. When I see my father back at home. He has a simple BPL color TV, he doesn't need 32 Sony LCD wall mount. He has a cell phone worth Rs 2,500. Whenever I ask him to change the phone, he always says Its a phone, I need this just for calls. And believe me; he is much happier in life than me with those limited resources and simple gadgets. The very basic reason why he is happy with so little is that he doesn't want things in life to make it luxurious, but he wants only those things which are making his life easier. Its a very fine line between these two, but after looking my fathers life style closely, I got the point. He needs a cell phone but not the iPhone. He needs a TV but not the 32 plasma. He needs a car but not an expensive one.

It is very simple- Our ancestors treated Necessities as Luxuries, we are looking at Luxuries as Necessities. This is making our life miserable...

Trip to Wayanad

My In-laws wanted to make a trip to Wayanad and wanted me and my wife also to join them. Saying a yes to that, made them go ahead in booking the tickets prior to the journey which was to be on 24th June 2010. All set and packed we were off to Calicut. Started on 24th night and reached at about 7.40 am in Kozhikode (Calicut) on 25th Morning. We had booked our package with Olives Homestay who had sent us the cab to pick us up from the station.

The journey from Calicut to Wayanad was beautiful. As we were driving through the ghat section, we could feel the mist and the cool breeze which was so pleasent that was welcoming us. There were showers of rain every 5 mins and then a pinch of sunlight after that which made the journey more relaxing and free from tiredness. I guess we opted for the best time to visit wayanad.

On reaching the place where we had booked (Olives Homestay), Mr.Biju who is in-charge of the homestay along with his family had immediately come out to welcome us. All settled we were served with a good cup of tea which was exactly what I wanted for that climate. Had few chit chats and then got dressed up to head towards Soochipara waterfalls which is one of the major tourist spots out there. We managed to reach there at around 4 p.m and started walking towards the falls. As we were heading towards it was getting darker and we were also running out of time. Managed to get to a level where we could view the falls and take some good pics. Walked back and purchased few home accessories which were cheap out there and started to our room again as we were a little tired. Back to room, me and my father-in-law settled up with few rounds of whisky & vodka along with some general chatting. The dinner was served, which had the Malabar fish being prepared along with some fish fry's, and few good kerala dishes. Had a great dinner and headed straight to our beds.

26th June was unfortunately a bandh in Kerala which had restricted us from moving out of our place. Mr.Biju & Family had provided us with an excellent breakfast that made us get settled up in the room watching the FIFA worldcup. At around 3 p.m we started to Banasura Sagar dam which was also a tourist spot and did a 10 km small safari ride where we were able to see few spotted deers and one Elephant which was quiet far from us. The climate and the greenery was awesome. I should say even though it was 7 p.m in the evening I could see brightness in the place. I was most of the time enjoying & gazing at the clouds near the hills which were moving pretty fast and pouring down few showers then and there. It was getting darker only after about 8 p.m where you could hear the frogs croaking and some unusual sounds of these forest insects around. We were served dinner with some new varieties of kerala dishes this time. Spent the night by chatting with my in-laws and watching the FIFA world cup and off to bed by 11.30 p.m.

27th June was the day we had to leave. Had a sumptuous breakfast and was given a warm send off by Mr.Biju & Family. We started at around 11 am and headed towards Pookot lake which was famous for boating. Went around the place and spent close to about an hour and asked the driver to drive down to calicut straight. There was a small issue also as we were still waiting for our return tickets to get confirmed. With the help of few known pals working in the railways we managed to get the m confirmed at around 3 p.m the same day. As we had little time more to be spent as our train was only at about 5.30 pm we drove to the beach in calicut popularly called as Kappad beach. Enjoyed some time out there and had lunch in the nearby restaurant. The cab dropped us at around 5 in the station and with ease we boarded the train and reached up Chennai at around 5.20 am. Good trip and worth making another one too.

I would personally recommend all to make a trip once to Wayanad. It is one place which is worth going for your vacation. I can also assure you that the place where I had stayed "Olives Homestay" managed by Mr.Biju provides an excellent hospitality and service which makes you have a good relaxed vacation.

Weekend Drive to Pondy

Saturday, the 5th of June 2010 happened to be a very usual day. The day started by reading the newspaper and having a good cup of tea followed by washing clothes which took half the day and then settling down for lunch. Had a good lunch and dozed of for few hours. Got up at 4.30 p.m and was thinking what to do and all of a sudden my wife sprang up and said let's drive down to pondy. At first I hesitated cos I am used to driving by bike and have ridden many times to pondicherry and had a doubt whether my wife would be comfortable to sit back and come. The answer all I got was "C'mon lets go !! Dont worry it's fine".

Packed a set of clothes, withdrew some money, booked the room and fed my bike (Unicorn) with enough fuel and started our ride to pondy by 5.30 pm. I was on one side excited cos it has been close to about a year I took my bike for a long ride and it too required a good long drive. The bike was performing extremely well on the highways and kept a steady speed of 80 - 95 kmph which made us reach pondicherry by 9 p.m with 3 halts in-between. I entered the city straight, stopped at the Mr.Brandy shop and managed to pick up few beers along with some breezers and checked in to the room.

The room had a pleasant aroma which welcomed us. Made my wife get settled down and went out to pick up few good side eats and asked her to order the main course. All done, had a good refreshing bath and got settled to chill out. Rounded up and off to bed at 1.30 am which made us wake up at around 8.00 am on Sunday morning. Got dressed, had a good breakfast, visited the Ashram, the Ganesh temple and the beach. We had to return back to chennai quiet early to check out a new apartment which ultimately dint work out.

Started from pondy at 11.00 am. Driving back there were few heavy showers from Mamallapuram to Thiruvanmiyur. Managed to stop for about few minutes and then started riding as the climate turned out to be good when we were closing chennai. On the whole the ride turned out to be smooth & safe which was a much awaited one after our marriage and hopefully would be doing the same again to a different place or to pondy. Cheers !!!

Remembering my Dad !!!!

For those who know my dad and for those who do not know, his name was R.Krishnamurthy. A personality known by many during the day's he lived. He was not only a dad but a person who took a lot of responsibilities which came by and made sure his sons keep up his name and carry with them their respect they had attained by him. You may all wonder why all of a sudden did I start writing something about my dad after so many years. It was just that my childhood friend or can be said as my dad's very close friend's daughter had got married and arranged a reception at the Guindy Race Club on 18th April 2010, where I had met a few friends who worked with my Dad and I meeting them after about 15-20 years was a wonderful experience.

People recognise me so quickly compared to my bro as I have the exact features of my dad. So it doesnt take much of a time for me to introduce myself to my dad's friends. So that was a day where I remembered few things when my dad used to bring me during my childhood days to the club to meet his friends and I used to play. So after so many years me getting a chance to go back to those places and meeting people who were close to us had a different feeling completely. Maybe if my dad was alive now, I guess our life would have been different but I do not repent for anything as he has already done enough when he lived to make us get the respect and friends we are supposed to have.

It made me and my bro feel so happy when people said about my mom and dad as to how they were and how they carried themselves which had inspired a lot to them. It turned out to be a awesome day where our wifes (mine & bro's) had a chance to know about my dad as they were not able to meet him but atleast know what he had done during his period. He was the branch manager for Eenadu Newstime & Etv, President of the Advertising Club, Board of Directors Margadasi, Committee member of Parsn Complex, Madras Gymkhanna Club member & President of Padma Sheshadri Bala Bhavan School parents teacher's committee.

There are so many things I owe my Dad, but guess as of now I can only carry the respect he had attained and make him proud forever. Miss you Dad... (1956-1996). Proud to be your Son !!!!

Hi Folks "Happy New Year" !!!!!

Been a long time since I had posted some stuff in my blog. Got married recently, been busy with family as well as work for the past few months. Needed a mindset to get on to the blogging track again and here I am posting my first news for the year 2010.

Jan 13th 2010 - Pongal Celebrations

Been quite a lazy day for me. Started as usual to office and found the office boys getting themselves busy for the day by cleaning and decorating the reception area in our office were the decorations for Pongal made usually. The pots filled up with cotton was the first thing I could see when entering office. Got an idea, Ok the celebrations for Pongal was on.

The day at office started as usual by checking up few mails and then responding to those which normally eats up half of my day. This year I was greeted in a special way as it is my first Pongal after marriage which is formally called in Tamil as "Thala Pongal". The day went on smooth and I could see the ladies in our office lining up and gearing up themselves to start the decorations at the reception area. The ladies this year decided to use the normal color powders to prepare the Kolam and decorate the border with flowers. To tell you guys the truth, even though it looked simple it was fantastic. The sugarcane's were placed at the corners to add more beauty to the decorations. The day ended by distributing some sweets and wishing the colleagues "Happy Pongal".

2009 F1 season can never expect anything better than this. One of the most successful and favourites "Michael Schumacher", Seven times world champion who retired from Formula One at the end of 2006 is all set to replace injured driver Felipe Massa at Ferrari.

The news was buzzing on as to who would be replacing Massa who unfortunately fractured his skull in the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend. I had the mildest idea where Ferrari would decide in getting schumi back on to the track. Suprised and excited to hear the news today which came confirming that the pro is taking the drivers seat along with Kimi in the next upcoming races until Massa is fit to drive.

So I guess Hamilton and Vettel would be for sure praticing hard to push their engines ahead of the Ferrari in order to find their names ticking on the Drivers Points table.

All the best guys, F1 is getting hotter and hotter. The Game has just Begun !!!!!

Hey Guys,

I was suprised on 14th April 2009 when I saw a Google alert in my mailbox which read as "Arvind Krishnamurthy Launches Comodo Encryption Journal on Ulitzer". The first mail I received after seeing this is from my head Mr.Paul who appreciated me in saying that I am the only guy after the CEO to be recognised by another company for publishing journals over the internet.

It was a great feeling and waiting to give more contributions from my end (the marketing team) for the company.

It was the 7th of march 2009 when I was told by Mom that, cuckoo... I have seen a girl for you and I would like you to talk to her over the phone and find out whether you are comfortable. My Mom continued the conversation talking about their family and how she is impressed about it and blah blah.. For a second I dint know what to reply and with no other go I said "Ok Mom... let me see".

The day just went pass that and on 8th of March my Mom starts again saying the girl will call you anytime and you be prepared and talk nicely. Says "All the best" and rushes to office. As usual I switched on the computer and started browsing and listening to music which I usually do on a Saturday morning. There was no call and with curiosity I called up Mom and asked her whether it was sure they said they will call me or should I, and she says coolly.. Ok so they haven't called you.. so you call them whats the problem. Great, so here it starts .

I call up, the ring goes.. goes.. goes and no one picks up. After a few minutes I receive a call from the same number and here it goes. She introduces herself as "Bhargavi", and says she has come for a company outing and having fun and continues talking about her mom who said she would get a call fro me and blah blah blah. Time went pass and to my surprise I am still in conversation with her for the past 1 hr. After a lot of talking, I said I need to meet you and she said ok and then we decided the time and place.

Bright Sunday morning (8th March), got a few words of advice from Mom as if I am going to attend my public exam and I was just nodding my head and listening to her as to how to talk and all the stuffs. The time we both decided to meet was 11 am and as usual I was late and made it up at 11.30 am. Walked in with a smile and a bit of tension in mind.

To tell you guys the truth I was actually impressed by the way she was talking over the phone and it was just that small instinct within me that I wanted to meet her and ask.... man how did you ever think I was the right partner for you??.. So we happened to meet and talk a lot of about each other which made us decide finally we can make a good pair. This is how it started and time just flew by making us both getting prepared for the engagement which was scheduled on 22nd March.

With such a short span of time, I managed to get the invites ready and call most of my close pals and yes missing few which I thought I could invite them for the wedding. It was quite hectic to get the engagements stuffs ready within a weeks time but the amount of effort delivered turned my engagement ceremony to be a grand one.

"Mom, I've decided to get married."

The Seshadhris were only too ecstatic to here these words pop out of their elder son's mouth, yet afraid at the the same time. After all, their son did study in the United States for 3 years. And from what they heard from their neighbours, the States "do things" to perfectly normal sons. What if he wanted to marry a white girl? The blasphemy! How would they ever explain to their relatives?

"Indian no?", Mrs.Seshadhri asked, nervously.

"Iyengar...."

"Oh thank god! Chamathu da nee. We'll see the girl tomorrow!And I'll have to call all our relatives to inform them. Ha! First I'll call your aththai. Her son went to the states and ended up with one of those...punjabi a? Ya, punjabi-o ennavo. But my son? Chamatha Iyengar ponnu paathutaan.""Amma..."

"What? I know I'm getting excited but its not everyday your son gets married! First ponnu paakanum. Give me her address."

"I can't give the girl's address."

"Why not? " interrupted Mr.Seshadhri. "Is it because they don't know? Its okay, we'll convince them""No, its because there is no girl""Ennada solra?" chorused the parents.
"I am in love with an Iyengar, yes. But its not a girl. Its a boy"
Silence.

"Is this some kind of TV show? Is some shanniyan going to come with a camera and say all this is some joke? I know! Vijay TV-la Simbhu is doing something like this. He's going to come now, isn't he?""No mom, nobody's behind your almirah. This is real. I want to get married to him and him only""This is not normal, you know that?""Appa, who're you to say that it's not normal? How do you know that it isn't normal? I want to get married to him and that's the end of it" and he stormed out of the room.

The Seshadhris were appalled, and did what any other parents would do when presented with such a private confession. They called the entire family over to discuss it.Mamas, Mamis, Thathas, Paatis, Chithappas, Chiththis, Aththais, Athimbers, Perippas, Perimmas and a motley crew of cousins promptly assembled to exchange their views over filter coffee and masala vadais.

"Enna kodumai Seshadri idhu""This is not the time to joke, its a very serious issue pa. Namma community-la this is just not done""Are you sure about this? I mean was he joking?""Will anybody joke about things like this? Avan serious-a dhaan irukaan. He's gay.""Amma Amma, what's a gay?" interrupted 6 year old Achu, loudly. Silence."Sshhh, Achu. Go play outside with Kichu." said his visibly embarassed mother.Achu promptly ran outside hollering KICHU! GAY-NA BAD WORD DA!"Kids""Yea. I'm hoping he gets a girlfriend soon.""Shree, he's 6""The earlier the better. And I'm so not sending him to the US""Not everyone turns out like that. My son married a perfectly nice girl. Enna, she's punjabi. But very nice girl.""You know she has a beard, right?""Oh please! At least she's a girl.""Enough enough. This is not about her daughter-in-law's beard. An uncomfortable silence followed, but was swiftly interrupted by the Periappa.

"Come to think of it, that golden poonal will weigh a lot""Does your future...err son-in-law cook?""Aiyo! Don't call him son-in-law! I don't even want this to happen!""Maybe you should do that. Vidaatha. Then he'll come around""No way, then he'd elope. Odi poyiduvaan!""Thats not good for the family name.""Thu! As if marrying a boy is very honourable.""And besides, eloping-na, usually the girl runs away, gets a baby and then only gets accepted back in the household. This is how it is in all tamil padams""Ok, but how the heck are these guys going to get a baby?""My point exactly, so they won't elope""Which is worse. What if they get together like those villains in Vettaiyaadu Villaiyaadu?""Aiyo! That's a movie about homosexual psychopaths! You're son is too sensitive for that. He cried in the climax of Kabhi Khushi Kahi Gham, for heaven's sake!."Appove we should have noticed...""You think there's some kind of homeopathy treatment for this? Or Ayurveda? The household watched him go with a rather stern resolve in absolute silence. The only sound was the jowku-jowku of Paati eating Vadai.
"Enna paati? What do you think?" said one of the cousins, finally breaking yet another uncomfortable silence.
"Ennadhaan payyana love pannaalum, atleast Iyengar payyana paathu love pannane, adhuve porum"

Trip to Rasipuram and Kollimalai

Was eagerly waiting for the long weekend i.e 24th, 25th & the 26th Jan to do a trip to bangalore to see few of my buddies whom I haven't met for a long time. The plan was on until 23rd afternoon when all of a sudden I had 2 of my close pals calling me and saying they are rushing to their native to spend the long weekend. Unfortunately I had to drop out the plan for bangalore. On 24th morning I was cleaning my bike just thinking as to what shall I do for the next 2 days. Tringg.. Tringg... my phone rings and it was Karthik alias Maadu. As usual started as .. Sollu da (meaning tell me dude)..he was asking me the plan for the long weekend and had to tell him I had no plan. For the first time karthik suggests a plan asking whether we can make a trip to Kolli Malai. Blink.. Gosh.. I asked Karthik.. How come dude??.. How did you crop up with this idea and confirmed the plan immediately and called up 3 other colleagues of mine of which one had come from bangalore to spend the weekend. Plan set, all geared up and one of my colleague (Sriram) picks me up from home and we land up at Tambaram where he had to pick up his bag. Karthik, Suresh(pal who had come from bangalore), Me and Sriram met up at Tambaram and started our Journey to Kolli Malai. This was my 2nd trip to the same place.

The plan was to drive down in Karthik's car (Maruti Swift) to Rasipuram which is near Salem where one of our colleague named Gokul resides. So we thought we shall stay up at his house and pick him up to and visit Kolli malai. So we had called up Gokul and he said you guys are always welcomed and we were much excited about the sudden trip. Normally trips like this which is planned all of a sudden works out well. So we as usual started making fun of each other and started taking snaps in different styles. The route which we took was NH45 from Chennai tamabaram - Tindivanam - Villupuram - Salem - Aatur - Rasipuram which was close to 300 kms.

So as we were driving down something stuck me and I had asked the guys whether we can call up Sudharshan (another colleague who has gone to his native Villipuram to spend the weekend) and the answer was why not. After a few hesitations he accepted to come with us. So we picked him up after some confusions in the route told by him. Now we were 5 people in the car happily making fun of each other, hearing good music, having beers except Karthik who was driving. After some halts for nature calls and water we land up at Rasipuram at 8.30 pm. Gokul had a big smile on his face when he saw us and greeted us. Picked up food and drinks for the night and made a small visit to his house to wish his parents and then we rushed up to his Grandfathers house which is nearby to celebrate the ride and the weekend plan. Cheers.. gulp.. gulp.. gulp..and we had to say enough guys and went to sleep at 3.00 am.

Next day Gokul's grandmom waked us all up by switching on the lights. Woke up and saw the time , it was 6.30 am. Machan yennada da ithu... was the first word which came out of my mouth. We managed to get up and the comedy for the day begins. We dint have toothpaste for brushing our teeth. The suggestion given by Gokul was to brush our teeth with Neem sticks. I waited until I found everybody had started brushing their teeth with neem sticks and I had no option than following them. With neem sticks in our mouths we started brushing and started walking to have a view at the groundnut field which was maintained by gokuls grandpa. Awesome climate and a fantastic location to spend a weekend. After few chit chats we hear a loud sound from Gokul saying. .. Dude.. I found the Toothpaste.. grrr.grrr..exchange of words happened and then we all had the second round of brushing with toothbrushes and toothpaste. His grandma offered us fantastic ginger tea which refreshed us. We had to leave at around 9 am to kolli malai, so had to do a dash and splash in gokuls house to visit his mom and have breakfast. Done with the breakfast and we start to kolli malai.

We had to adjust in the car as we dint have space for 6 people. But adjusted and started the ride. Good roads and we had stopped at few places to pick up food and beverages and have some good snaps. Sriram was busy with the camera in taking some good snaps. Me, gokul, sudharshan, Suresh and Karthik as usual blah.. blah.. blah. Reached the top of the hill, which had close to 85 bends. Changed our costumes and straight walked down to the waterfalls. We had to walk down about 1200 steps to reach the waterfalls which was mind blowing. The last visit when I made, I was able to go and stand below the falls, but this time the falls was too heavy and I was even unable to swim and make it close to it. So we had just dipped ourselves for abt 1/2 hr in the water enjoyed the beauty of the falls. Had food and started walking up. This was the toughest part I would say. The steps were big and we had to take bigger steps to reach the next one. This drained down our energy levels fully and by the time we could reach the top of the hill we were damn tired. After a small halt reached up to the nearby shop to have lemon soda to refresh ourselves.

Took a good amount of rest and then started driving downhill. On the way we again started taking snaps. As suresh had to deliver some stuffs to his friend who lives next to rasipuram we had to travel to their house. Made suresh deliver things fast and rushed up to Gokuls house to have good food and take rest. On 26th Morning we had to leave by 7 am as Suresh had to take the bus back to bangalore in the evening the same day. Woke up, brushed our teeth, had some good refreshing tea, took snaps with his parents and drove back. One the way we halted at sudharshan place which is in Villupuram to meet his parents and have some snaps with them and finally reached chennai at 4 pm. On the whole we had enjoyment to the max and made sure we kept ourselves loaded with fun throughout the weekend.

Ferrari celebrates its 60th anniversary of F1 by launching their latest Formula One car - the F60. The new Team boss Stefano Domenicali underlined the significance of the car's name at the Mugello circuit - The car was actually named the F60 which predates the World Championship, which began only in the summer of 1950. The front and the rear wings had been modified this year to improve overtaking.

Massa for the first time was behind the wheel at the Mugello circuit and was happy with the performance and the technology of the F60 after completion of 100 kilometers in it. Ferrari retained the constructor's championship in 2008, but F1 is entering a new era with cost-cutting measures and rule amendments set to change the landscape of motor sport.

The F60 would feature the kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) which will introduce the first hybrid concepts into the sport. Ferrari has developed a system in league with electronics partner Magneti Marelli. One of the key elements in the design of this year's cars is expected to be the weight distribution. In the previous years many teams have designed cars that were well under the weight limit, thus allowing the engineers to move ballast around inside the car to get the optimum balance at each race.

Ferrari as of now has won eight Constructors titles in the last 10 seasons, but only six Drivers crowns. The team hopes to be able to continue this extraordinary sequence and both Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen are keen to win the title.

Hey guys!!! Wishing all viewers a Happy Pongal

13th Jan 2009 - Started as a normal day where I woke up as usual at around 8.15 am, finished the morning duties and sat to read the paper. Was going through the news about Satyam frauds and what they are upto still and the other happenings when I hear a loud noise, "Cuckoo.. would you mind having a bath it is getting late to office" Courtesy Mom. Ok ok.. and got myself prepared for the days work.

I reached office at around 9.30 am signed in the register and the first thing which stuck in my eye when I entered was 4 sugarcanes lying on the floor and the office boys starting to tie the thin ropes at the corners of the walls to hang few decoration stuffs. Ohh.. then I realized that the pongal decorations are on in the office. This usually happens every year where the ladies take some time off there work schedule to sit together in preparing the rangoli.

The day started for me by getting myself busy in working out few reports which have to be submitted for the day and replying mails. This took about half the day for me and just when i thought I need a walk, I could see the office boys and the ladies of our office getting themselves ready to decorate. The ladies as usual started their chatting before starting up with the rangoli stuff and then got themselves busy in doing it. This is the only time where you could actually see the ladies putting in there full efforts and concentrating to make the rangoli look as beautiful as possible. The only work where there is a lot of involvement among them. ha ha ha..

This time there was some add ons in the decorations like fixing up serial lights around the reception area where the decorations were made. The rangoli was prepared with a mixture of salt and color powder this time. Last time it was fully prepared with flowers. The sugarcanes were placed around the pongal pot and the decorations went on well this time. At 5 pm the pooja started and after the formalities we wished everybody and then settled ourselves to take few snaps.

Trip to Kodai

Hi Guys!!! Wishing you all a Happy and a Wonderful New Year 2009.

Been a while since I had written something in my blog. Anyways I'm back to let you guys know as to how I had spent my vacation in Kodaikannal this time from 26th Dec 08 to 30th Dec 2008. Me & Dev(my school friend) had plans of driving down in his car to kodai on the last week of Dec after Christmas to spend few days in his house in Kodai. Plans were all up as Ramanathan (another school pal) had also told us that he would join, who was actually driving down his Tata Indigo from Mysore to Chennai.

As usual I had to rush up with my official work and make sure things are settled before I go for my vacation. I got an approval from my heads and my plans were all set and geared to visit kodai for the first time in my life. Rama calls me at 2.30 am sharp on 26th Dec early morning and asks "Dude, I am ready what abt you?", I said " I am ready bro, lets start". As Rama's house is quite close to mine he picked me up within 10 mins and we left to Dev's place where the great chap was cleaning his car (Premier 118 NE). After all the cleaning and chit chats we prepare to leave from Dev's place where I and Rama took the Indigo and Dev and his dog (Kruger) in his 118 NE.

We start at 3.30 am sharp and plan to leave chennai outskirts by 4. The planned route was to take NH45( Chennai – Tindivanam – Villupuram – Ulundurpet - Perambalur – Trichy – Dindigul – Vatlagundu - Kodaikanal). As I dint have much sleep the previous night and thankfully I wasn't driving this time, I managed to take a good nap in Rama's car. Peaceful roads had helped us to reach the outskirts of chennai by 4.00 am. We also had a problem. You know usually we always have when we ride... Dev's 118 NE doesn't go above 80 kmph. (Wow!! what a maintenance I say).. Nonsense !!! So we had no other option than following Dev's car.

As usual we had few stops for tea and nature's calls and managed to reach Villupuram by 8.30 am. The comedy begins out here. We managed to find out a place where we could stop for tea and also take the dog for a walk. The shop was managed by a local female out there and I said to here to give 4 cups of Milk (which Dev had actually told me to do so), and to my surprise the 4 cups for the dog it seemed. Then after a few exchange of words I had ordered 3 cups of tea and few biscuits. I do not know how the female took it as she had actually had asked another person to buy 4 packets of milk and come and we had tea already served for us. Me , Dev and Rama were puzzled as we had only asked for 4 cups of milk and why is she sending out a person for 4 packets of Milk !@#$. Anyways after a looong wait she gives a bowl of milk which is piping hot. We asked her to serve warm for the dog but she seemed to be a very brainy female in serving it piping hot. We waited for some time and the dog managed to take few sips and then we had to leave. This time I sat with Dev in his 118 NE and since he dint have a music set and I kept myself busy by taking few snaps and videos.

We stopped at places were it would be good for the dog to take a stroll and have our breakfast and lunch with ease. After a good lunch I managed to take a nap in Rama's car and when I woke up there was confusion. Dev stops at places where he has been asking people for the route to Vatalagundu, and unfortunately we had taken the Palani route which leads us to 15 kms more in reaching the destination. So as we ride and with doubts in our mind as to which route are we going in we managed to figure out the correct route to Kodai and reached his House at 7.00 pm (26th Dec).

Climate was awesome, I would not say it was cool it was freezing when we got down from our cars. The first thing that came out of my mouth after seeing his house was WOW!! caman the fun I say. This house is built by Dev's great Grandfather Judge Devadoss. His family members after the dimissal of the Judge used to visit this house twice a year for retreats. The house was built at the top of a hill and the area was called as Observatory. The judge had actually owned the entire hill wherein after he expired his kids had sold out few pieces of land as there were in need of money. As the years went by the house was used to be visited by Dev's family once in 4 to 5 mnths and he used to spend few bucks in repairing things. I would say it is actually hard to maintain such a place.

Ok, we landed up and there was a care taker who has been living in the outdoors for about 50 yrs who had helped us to light up the fire at the fire place and set up the bed and quilts for us. Dev and Rama said that they would go down hill to grab some food and told me to stay up with the dog until they come. At the starting I dint feel scary at all as I was busy looking around the house. After say about 45 mins there gushed a silence, It was shit scary I would say. I tried sitting near the fire place and managed to gaze at the entrance waiting as to when these guys would arrive. As I got too scared I started calling Dev's mobile about 5 to 6 times asking as to where are you. And the answer was that " We are on the way". Time passed and it was close to about 2 hrs these guys dint turn up. I was stuck to one place without much of movements and finally they come. The moment I saw them , I started blasting them as to what the F@#$ where have you been you Idiots it is shit scary out here and the two laugh to their glory. Gulped few drinks and had a good dinner and with the amount of tiredness we just dozzed off.

The next day morning, Dev gets up before me and Rama and takes his dog for a walk and in order to wake us up he rolls on us. Amma.. Appa and with a lot of shouting we get up brush our teeth's and I managed to prepare few cups of tea and Dev's walks me up to the different places in and around the house. I personally wanted to spend a vacation peacefully after a lot of work and this was the right place I would say. No pollution, less noise and chill breeze passing by and the amount of silence is the one which would be expected by a person like me. Awesome place as this was my first visit to Kodai, I enjoyed each and every moment of it. The only problem which I had was that I dint take my creams to beat the chill which resulted in drieness of my lips. The only plan for that particular day was to roam around the house and ride down to the town and get some stuff for dinner and next days breakfast. As we started chatting all day long about the history of the house, we finally came to the end of the day were we sat next to the fire place with whiskey and wine with us. I had played some light music from my Mp3 player and we happily enjoyed the night by making fun of each other.

The next day Dev had to go to the town to pay the taxes for the house along with the caretaker .Me and Rama prepared breakfast and tea and had it. For lunch we went downhill to have some good Tibetian food. On the way back managed to take some snaps and pick up few drinks to settle for the night. 2 to 3 days just went on by visiting the reservoirs next to Dev's place and the other places like Coakers Walk, Pillar rocks, Guna Caves, Suicide point etc. We kept our nights busy by engaging ourselves with whiskeys and Wines. Good fun we had where Rama as usual trying some stunts of pouring the hot Tomato soup over himself and his usual fundas of scolding the dog (Kruger). All Fun and enjoyment 100%.

On 29th Night we had packed our bags to leave on 30th early morning. We had left at about 5.30 am on the 30th morning and reached chennai by 7.30 pm the same day. Great Ride and Great fun all the way. Waiting for the next trip.

Hamilton World Champion 2008; Massa wins Brazilian grand prix

The most dramatic race of the season where in the 23 year old Lewis Hamilton needing only a 5th place finish to win his first ever world championship title. The drama continued till the last lap of the race, when Massa finished up first and Lewis was 6th until the last corner of the race when Timo Glock of the Toyota team who was placed at the 4th spot had an engine failure making him slow down right at the last corner of the race making Lewis clinch to his 5th place and taking up the title.

Lewis 23 years and 301 days old became the youngest driver to break the age record set by former McLaren team mate Fernando Alonso, the Spaniard who won the first of his two titles with Renault in Brazil at the age of 24, one month and 27 days.

It was indeed an emotional moment for the Brazilian Massa who gave in his best to clinch to the World Championship Title, but luck dint favor this time. Anyways the Ferrari team and fans were happy as they took the Constructors Championship from the Mclaren’s this year too.

The First Ever Night Race – Singapore

What do I say!! One of the most fantastic races I dever seen. The first ever night race, a circuit which is illuminated with 16000 lights, the humidity, the feel of racing under lights, drivers race for the championship points, tyre conditions, drivers fitness. Hats off to those who have made this circuit and the amount of hard work gone inside to set it up.

Alonso wouldn’t have even dreamt that he would be the first ever driver to win a formula one race under lights starting from 13th on the grid. His own team mate Nelson Piquet Jr. who had crashed on the 14th lap of the race bringing the safety car in had helped Alonso clinch to the first place. He built up a huge lead, lost it all when the second safety car deployment came on the 51st lap, then calmly opened it up again. He praised his car’s performance all evening, but the success owed as much to the man behind the wheel.

Hamilton had to struggle to regain his positions as he was stuck behind David Coulthard for a long time and then tried finding a way to finish 3rd. He was happy at one end since his rivals Ferrari dint manage to take any championship points this race. Bad race for Kimi as he had to push his Ferrari which was fully loaded with fuel at the start of the race, but unfortunately crashed out at the finishing stages.

But a royal treat for the viewers as I think many would have admired the circuits beauty rather than concentrating much on the race.

Sebastian Vettel stuns Italy

The rookie stunned Formula One as the sport's youngest race winner at the age of 21 on Sunday with victory for tiny Toro Rosso at their home Italian Grand Prix.

It was a brilliant race for Sebastian Vittal who took pole position and made it all the way to finish the Italian grand prix under wet weather conditions. Toro Rosso's mechanics worked on a good strategy and brilliant pit work which made the team happy for their hero to win his first ever formula1 win at Monza.

Kimi set the fastest lap but could not better ninth place ahead of Renault’s Nelson Piquet, Toyota’s Timo Glock, Williams’ Kazuki Nakajima, Toyota’s Jarno Trulli, Williams’ Nico Rosberg, Honda’s Jenson Button, Red Bull’s David Coulthard, Honda’s Rubens Barrichello and Bourdais.

The Mclarens were all set to race and planned to get their first 2 places ahead of Vettel but unscheduled pit stops by the Mclaren team due to weather conditions made them shuffle in their positions. Kovalainen’s expected challenge, but was finally settled in 2nd place ahead of Kubica who was on a single pit stop strategy.

Massa celebrates his 100th Grand Prix win in Valencia

Valencia proved to be a lucky race for Felipe Massa as he had made up for his last-race disappointment in Hungary by dominating Sunday’s European Grand Prix from start to finish. He had managed to finish ahead of F1 championship leader Lewis Hamilton and BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica.

A fine of 10,000 euros was put on the Brazilian when the stewards found that he had been released unsafely in the path of Force India's Adrian Sutil from the pit lane. It was tough race for Lewis as he had made up his mind that he would not be able to catch up with Massa which had a lead of about 5.67 secs, but managed to hold Robert Kubica for his 2nd position in the race.

Dramas for Kimi. On the 43rd lap when Kimi Raikkonen was released from his pit stop before the refueling hose had been detached from his F2008. A mechanic was struck by the red car’s rear wing in the melee, and as he was being stretchered to the medical centre, the second incident occurred when Raikkonen’s engine apparently exploded as he went into his 46th lap.

and then with Clarke's tables and advanced to Calculators and computers!
When we chased one another in the corridors in Intervals,
and returned to the classrooms drenched in sweat!
When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors, Playgrounds,
under the trees and even in cycle sheds!
When all the colors in the world, decorated the campus on the second Saturdays!
When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table,
Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons!
When cricket was played with writing pads as bats,
And neckties and socks rolled into balls!
When few played "kabadi" and "Kho-Kho" in scorching sun,
While others simply played "book cricket" in the confines of classroom!
Of fights but no conspiracies, of competitions but seldom jealousy!

I tolded I has head ache problem due to migration. Still the clerk rejected to give ticket to I and my sun.

I putted a complain on station masterji.

He said I to go to the lady clerk.

At first she also rejected. I then pressed for long time and finally with great difficulty she gave a birth to my sun.

Anyway I thanked the station master also because he was phully responsible for getting birth of my sun.

Ass a hole it was a bhery diphicult experiment in my hole life.

I hope u will look into explain my hole story after,and late me joint first.

A Royal Treat for the British Crowd

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton the first British winner at Silverstone since David Coulthard in 2000, was utterly dominant as he lapped all but second-placed Nick Heidfeld in a BMW Sauber and the Honda of Brazilian Rubens Barrichello. A brilliant British Grand Prix victory in often treacherous conditions lifted him right back into contention for the world championship.

McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen had a disappointing race after starting on pole for the first time and came home fifth ahead of Renault's double world champion Fernando Alonso.

It was quiet not a good day for the Ferrari team as both the drivers had a lot of slips and turns. Massa who was sent out in wet tyres couldnt handle the car, taking the award for the most spins (around six) and the dizziest driver by the end. Kimi managed to get hold of his cars after a few laps and managed to surpass Heikki Kovalainen and Alonso to gain the 4th place. The contenders for the world championship points are still on the run as Kimi and Hamilton share 48 points each at the top spot after the British Grand Prix.

Glory for Ferrari Fans in Magny-Cours

A splendid show by Ferrari to win the French Grand Prix on Sunday and take the lead in the Formula One championship for the first time. Massa took the chequered flag 17.9 seconds clear of Raikkonen on an overcast and damp afternoon.

Massa currently leads the drivers championship standings with three victories this season also helping Ferrari to clinch on to its Constructors championship.

Kimi who had won last year in Magny-Cours had the pole position, but within few laps the Brazilian managed to surpass Kimi who had a exhaust problem on the 33rd lap and took the first place until the chequred flag.

Bad day for Ferrari.. Hamilton wins in Monaco

A Bad week guys if you are a true ferrari fan. Chaos chaos chaos.... what else can I say about Monaco grand prix. Hamilton despite being 3rd on the starting grid managed to surpass kimi on the start . Massa clinched up to the first place before he slided off at the Ste Devote corner and handing the lead to Kubica for a long stretch before the pitstops. Hamilton walloped the wall hard on the exit while trailing Massa, Ironically, the early pit stop played into Hamilton's hands as others literally slipped up as he managed a comfortable first place.
Adrian Sutil was heartbroken and full of tears, as the German starting 18th for Force India enjoying the race of his life in fourth place until Kimi misjudged his braking and shunted him out at the tunnel exit with the chequered flag less than 10 minutes away.

Turkish Grand Prix - Massa back on track

Massa had a fantastic race on Sunday by winning the Turkish grand prix from pole position for the third year in a row on Sunday after tyre concerns slowed Lewis Hamilton's. Massa's win was champions Ferrari's fourth in a row ,meant that the Turkish Grand Prix, which made its debut in 2005, has still only ever been won by the driver on pole position.

Hamilton had sufficient in hand over Kimi Raikkonen, however, to keep the Finn in third place and to reduce his championship points lead to seven as they sped to the line 3.7s adrift of Massa. Ferrari's world champion Kimi Raikkonen saw his overall lead trimmed to seven points from nine after finishing a close third. The Finn, the only driver to score points in every race this season, now has 35 to Massa and Hamilton's 28.

Ferrari Rocks in Spanish Grand Prix

Kimi and Massa make Ferrari's second successive one-two finish, and third win in a row, with McLaren's Lewis Hamilton taking third place to revive his title challenge after a disappointing last race in Bahrain. Raikkonen's 17th grand prix win left the Finn with 29 points, nine clear of closest rival Hamilton, and catapulted Ferrari back in front of BMW.

Raikkonen's championship score increased to 29 points and his lead to nine over Hamilton (20), while Massa jumps up to fourth on 18, one behind Kubica (19). Heikki Kovalainen had a bad day. On the 22nd lap, possibly as a result of something causing the front-left tyre and tharim to separate. It took a while to stabilise the Finn at the accident scene, but he gave a thumbs up as he was taken by stretcher to the medical centre.

Giancarlo Fisichella was unable to resist the charging Heidfeld, so brought his Force India home 10th, ahead of Toyota's Timo Glock, who delayed himself running into the rear of David Coulthard. The Scot's left-rear tyre was cut as a result, so he also dropped back but managed to repass Super Aguri's Takuma Sato before the finish to claim 12th.

The first European race of the season ended with an entirely predictable result, with the Circuit de Catalunya setting a record as the track with the longest run of successive winners from pole position. Raikkonen, the only driver to have won twice so far this season, was the eighth in a row to have triumphed in Barcelona from pole.

Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam : 'A Leader Should Know How to Manage Failure'

India Knowledge@Wharton: Could you give an example, from your own experience, of how leaders should manage failure?

Kalam: Let me tell you about my experience. In 1973 I became the project director of India 's satellite launch vehicle program, commonly called the SLV-3. Our goal was to put India 's "Rohini" satellite into orbit by 1980. I was given funds and human resources - but was told clearly that by 1980 we had to launch the satellite into space. Thousands of people worked together in scientific and technical teams towards that goal.

By 1979 - I think the month was August -- we thought we were ready. As the project director, I went to the control center for the launch. At four minutes before the satellite launch, the computer began to go through the checklist of items that needed to be checked. One minute later, the computer program put the launch on hold; the display showed that some control components were not in order. My experts -- I had four or five of them with me -- told me not to worry; they had done their calculations and there was enough reserve fuel. So I bypassed the computer, switched to manual mode, and launched the rocket. In the first stage, everything worked fine. In the second stage, a problem developed. Instead of the satellite going into orbit, the whole rocket system plunged into the Bay of Bengal . It was a big failure. That day, the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization, Prof. Satish Dhawan, had called a press conference. The launch was at 7:00 am, and the press conference -- where journalists from around the world were present -- was at 7:45 am at ISRO's satellite launch range in Sriharikota [in Andhra Pradesh in southern India ]. Prof. Dhawan, the leader of the organization, conducted the press conference himself. He took responsibility for the failure -- he said that the team had worked very hard, but that it needed more technological support. He assured the media that in another year, the team would definitely succeed. Now, I was the project director, and it was my failure, but instead, he took responsibility for the failure as chairman of the organization.

The next year, in July 1980, we tried again to launch the satellite - and this time we succeeded. The whole nation was jubilant. Again, there was a press conference. Prof. Dhawan called me aside and told me, "You conduct the press conference today."

I learned a very important lesson that day. When failure occurred, the leader of the organization owned that failure. When success came, he gave it to his team. The best management lesson I have learned did not come to me from reading a book; it came from that experience.

Brazilian Felipe Massa led Ferrari to a one-two victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday with team mate Kimi Raikkonen seizing the championship lead from McLaren's Lewis Hamilton. Massa really needed this victory, and he barely put a wheel wrong in achieving it. His Ferrari had all the pace it needed, and he could control the race. His only problem was ensuring that there was no repeat of Malaysia. Raikkonen was quick, but not quick enough to challenge his team mate.

Massa's sixth career win brought him his first points of the Formula One season and came at the same Sakhir desert circuit where he fired up his title challenge last year with a pole-to-flag victory.

World champion Raikkonen collected the 50th podium finish of his grand prix career and the Finnish 'Iceman' took over at the top with 19 points, three clear of BMW Sauber's German Nick Heidfeld, after three races.

Malaysian Grand Prix... Kimi is Back..

Kimi is back and back with a bang.

The World champion failed to finish last weekend's season-opener in Australia but the Iceman's 16th Grand prix victory was sealed when he took the lead from team mate Felipe Massa who was in pole position for the Malaysian Grand prix. Kimi's victory has put Ferrari back to its winning streak taking a three point lead from Lewis Hamilton.

Massa had a tough race, he spun out of an easy second place on the 31st lap, leaving Robert Kubica BMW Sauber finish second, the best result of his Formula One career to date, and McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen was third.

For Lewis Hamilton, it was a race spent playing catch-up. He made a great start to jump from ninth up to fifth place behind the Ferraris, Kubica and similarly fast-starting Mark Webber in the Red Bull. But then a problem with the right-front wheel during his first pit stop dropped him down to 11th place, and he lost time hand over fist in the traffic.

Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Bourdais was the first retirement, falling off on the opening lap. Rosberg clobbered Timo Glock then, too, necessitating a pit stop for a new nose cone. The Williams continued, the Toyota was through for the day. Adrian Sutil suffered a mechanical problem that stopped his Force India out on the track, while Sebastian Vettel suffered either engine or transmission failure that brought him to a smoky halt.

The result leaves Hamilton still leading the world championship for drivers with 14 points, ahead of Raikkonen and Heidfeld on 11 apiece. In the constructors’ chase, McLaren lead with 24, ahead of BMW Sauber on 19 and Ferrari on 11.

Trip to Coimbatore.......

Phew..!!!. Chaos again.
Had been to Coimbatore last weekend (15th & 16th March'08) to attend my ex-colleague Prakash's wedding. Had booked up the tickets a month ago. Me and my colleague Yuvi had planned to fly down to Coimbatore and then return by train. All done and here we get prepared to fly down to Coimbatore on a bit cloudy Saturday morning (15th). We planned and got to meet up at the Chennai airport at around 9.30 am for our 10.15am flight. We were to board the Paramount Airways and guys I say the service was great.

We managed to take up few snaps on our way to the flight which was actually not allowed but dint bother about things. After about 10 mins of getting the boarding passes and waiting for the bus to take us to the flight, finally I see the first airhostess of the flight and she says.. Vanakkam Sir..(meaning welcome)..and makes us comfortable on boarding the flight. To my surprise I see an kollywood actor sitting next to me in the bus waiting to board the same flight. It was none other than Karthik (Paruthiveeran hero)..or you can say it also as Suryas Brother. Great start I said to yuvi(who was enjoying his first flight experience).

All set and the flight starts with the routine stuffs like the airhostess asking us fasten our seat belts and serving us refreshments. We both were enjoying taking good snaps and having few chit chats in between. Our flight lands sharp at 11.00 am in Coimbatore airport and we get down and again start our usual business of taking snaps next to the flight. Managed to take a snap with karthik also in the meanwhile.
The wedding went well, good food and happened to meet few friends of Coimbatore who had some plans also of taking us to few good places in and around Coimbatore. We visited the temple in Marudhamalai( abt 15 kms from Coimbatore) and had a good dharshan with the help of few counselors were over there who took us directly inside the temple without making us stand up in the que.

The fun begins here... Must be wondering why is the hurry all about... hmm.. we were suppose to catch up our train which was scheduled up at 2.10 (which was written in our e-ticket) on Sunday afternoon(16th). We finished up our visits and had to rush up to the room to pack our bags and board the train as it was already about 1.30 pm. Luckily the room was next to the station where we had stayed up. We said all the bye bye stuffs and started running to the station to board the train. We had booked up the AC compartment(B1 Coach) and to our surprise we had covered the train 4 times by running to both the ends of the train and were unable to find the compartment. Tired and sweating and the train starts moving and we had to get on to some AC compartment so that we could ask the TTR where is our coach. And the TTR says cooly, this train which you guys have booked up is at 2.10 am. Whattttttttttt..( we both r blank)... after few arguments me and Yuvi finally get down from the moving train.

We were damn tired of running up and down and finally managed to walk up to the same room were we had stayed up. I told Yuvi..give me a moment and lemme check with this guy who is sitting in the May I Help you counter.. and there comes the best part. I showed up the ticket to the guy and he says the train has already left in the morning 2.10 am i.e 16th early morning. Ohh God.. what have we got into this time..(Yuvi watches me and says sooper..you have booked the tickets great.)

As yuvi was not comfortable in traveling by bus, we had no other option than booking up another flight to Chennai and this time it was Spice Jet. The flight was scheduled at 8.00 pm and we stayed up at the room for about 2 hrs and finally reached the airport. As soon as we reached the airport it started raining heavily and we were again confused as the flight had been delayed for about an hr and we had to wait. Finally at about 9.30pm the announcement comes to board the flight. We both again started taking snaps next to flight and all of a sudden a police fella comes and says " don't you know you are not allowed to take photos here???".. me and yuvi see each other and say "no" and walk up to the flight. The police fellow had no other words to say rather than watching us both board the flight. After a lot of running , confusions and miscalculations we managed to board the flight which dint even provide us refreshments. But we weren't much concerned .. Just wanted to reach Home Sweet Home...

Lewis Hamilton could have not asked for more. He had opened the Formula One season with a pole to flag victory in a Chaotic Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, which happened to be a dramatic thriller that saw only seven cars finishing the race.

The race was packed with drama as the safety car had appeared thrice, nearly wiping out Hamilton’s heavy leads. Despite all the drama, the best piece of action was the one which involved Alonso and Kovalainen on the penultimate lap. Kovalainen went past the former world champion boldly, desperate to make some lost ground, but Alonso replied cheekily and overtook him a few seconds later.

Raikkonen, who started from the eight row after finishing 16th in the qualifiers, also looked impressive. He quickly climbed up and at one stage had a running battle with Kovalainen for the second spot. If it was a great day for McLaren, it was a disaster for Ferrari. Felipe Massa spun on the first lap and was then involved in an incident with Red Bull’s David Coulthard before retiring, and Kimi Raikkonen, having benefited from the second safety car intervention, slid off the road trying to pass McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen and undid all that work. Then his Ferrari let him down when he was running seventh with three laps to go.Indeed, McLaren should have had a one-two, but a third safety car intervention following a heavy accident for Toyota’s Timo Glock badly hurt Kovalainen’s chances as he had to pit when everyone had closed up. He dropped way back, was passed by Raikkonen, repassed him, then found himself overtaken by Renault’s Fernando Alonso as the Spaniard overtook both of his rivals in a wonderful move. After fighting back, Kovalainen repassed the Renault with two laps to go, only to have his car falter momentarily as they crossed the line for the 57th time. As he wiped oil off his visor he accidentally triggered the pit-lane speed limiter and a relieved Alonso pounced to head his former team mate home in fourth place.

The Iceman is back and back with a bang!!!. Under clear skies and in bright sunshine on 14th March , the Finn laid down a marker for Sunday's race with a best lap time of one minute, 26.461 seconds in his initial practice session. Raikkonen won in Melbourne last year on his Ferrari debut and is chasing a third successive victory after ending 2007 on a high with triumphs in China and Brazil taking him to the championship The first 45 minutes saw the Ferraris battling each other for fastest time, with Felipe Massa gaining that with 1m 27.524s ahead of Kimi Raikkonen 1m 27.709s. Then the McLarens came out and Lewis Hamilton worked down to 1m 27.386s to go fastest. Right at the end Raikkonen did two laps quicker than that, the better of which was 1m 26.461s. That compared very favourably with his pole time of 1m 26.072s from last year despite the ban on traction control and engine braking. McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, a sensational rookie last year before losing out to Raikkonen by a single point in Brazil, was top until the Ferrari driver bettered his time by 0.487 with two minutes remaining.

German ace Michael Schumacher is widely recognised as being the world's best ever racing driver. Fujitsu has taken the biometric protection concept one step further making it continuous. Its done so with its PalmSecure mouse, which has an infrared scanner that reads the pattern of the veins in your palm as you hold the mouse, all without adding more desktop clutter or replacing your biometric-less laptop.

Fujitsu has had its PalmSecure technology available for a while, but only in a version that required an authentication server. That tended to limit its users to enterprises such as hospitals, where users might work on multiple PCs during the day.

PalmSecure has not yet begun selling the PC login kit, but keep in mind that the PalmSecure works only on Windows XP and Vista. If you want to have managed multi-user authentication across an enterprise’s PCs, you’ll need the authentication server edition.

How Does It Work?

The Palm is first illuminated by an infrared light. The veins just beneath the skin of the palm then emits a black reflection, giving a picture of the veins in the palm.
Using a proprietary Fujitsu algorithm, the pattern is then extracted from this picture and is checked against patterns stored in the system. If there is a match, the person’s identity is confirmed.

It has been learnt that Fisichella's name was finalised for the second seat primarily because of the experience he brings to the team. The Renault driver will be partnering Adrian Sutil, who drove for Force India's earlier avatar - Spyker. Fisichella had tested for Force India during the winter testing programme in Spain and faced competition from six other contenders. A1 Team India’s Narain Karthikeyan paid tribute to his superb pit crew taking his and the team’s first-ever A1GP race win in an incident-packed Feature race at Zhuhai International Circuit in China.

Karthikeyan was joined on the podium by New Zealand’s Jonny Reid, who started from tenth on the grid, and South Africa’s Adrian Zaugg, who finished third.

The 30-year-old Indian driver, who started from third on the grid, took the lead from New Zealand during the second pit stop window on lap 29. Despite a huge amount of pressure and some excellent racing from Reid, Karthikeyan held off the New Zealander’s Black Beauty racecar and crossed the line to score India’s first A1GP success.

After the race, a delighted Karthikeyan said: ‘The team has been working really hard at pit stop practices and they’ve done a really good job this weekend. Both the pit stops were excellent. Unfortunately I got stuck behind Pakistan on the out lap of my second stop, so I couldn’t push, but I came out just ahead of Jonny. There was a lot of pressure towards the end but then his tyres went off as well as mine and then we were equal - after that I just got the job done.’

Alonso to partner Piquet at Renault for 2008

Fernando Alonso will race for Renault next season alongside Nelson Piquet Jr, it was confirmed on Monday. The move marks Alonso’s return to the team with whom he won two world titles and follows a troubled 2007 season with McLaren.

Piquet’s promotion from test driver to race seat means Renault will field an all-new line-up for next season - and leaves current stars Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen without confirmed drives for 2008.

“I am delighted to be returning to Renault,” said Alonso. “This is the team where I grew up as a driver in Formula One. Now it is time for us to begin a new chapter together. I am very excited about working with this great team once more, and confident that together we can move back to the front of the field. Renault had a difficult year in 2007, but I know that the team has real strength in depth. I am confident they can produce a fast and competitive car and be back at the top in 2008.”

“Fernando and Nelsinho will form one of the most exciting driver line-up of 2008,” commented Renault team principal Flavio Briatore. “We are delighted to be welcoming Fernando back home to the team where he enjoyed his greatest success. “First of all, I want to thank Flavio and Renault for putting their confidence in me for 2008,” said Piquet. “It is a fantastic opportunity to make my Formula One debut with one of the top teams on the grid, and alongside one of the very best drivers in the sport. This drive is something I have been working towards since the end of 2006, and I am proud that my performances as test driver have earned me this position. I am looking forward to teaming up with Fernando, and learning from him. As a rookie, there is no better way to start your career than to have a double world champion as your reference point.”

Briatore added: “Nelsinho is one of the most promising young talents in motorsport. After his success in GP2, he has spent a year learning the ropes as our test driver and getting to know the team; he is now ready to step up to the next level.”

Alonso and Piquet will be supported by Frenchman Romain Grosjean, reigning 2007 F3 Euroseries Champion and a product of Renault’s driver development scheme, in the role of test driver.

Aerodynamics
A modern Formula One car has almost as much in common with a jet fighter as it does with an ordinary road car. Aerodynamics have become key to success in the sport and teams spend tens of millions of dollars on research and development in the field each year.

Brakes
When it comes to the business of slowing down, Formula One cars are surprisingly closely related to their road-going cousins. Indeed as ABS anti-skid systems have been banned from Formula One racing, most modern road cars can lay claim to having considerably cleverer retardation.

Cockpit / safety
At the heart of the modern Formula One car lies the immensely strong 'monocoque' structure, often referred to as the 'tub'. This incorporates the cockpit and the driver's 'survival cell', but also forms the principal component of the car's chassis, with the engine and the front.

Cornering
Cornering is vital to the business of racing cars, and Formula One is no exception. On straights the battle tends to be determined by the power of engine and brakes, but come the corners and the driver's skill becomes more immediately apparent.

Driver fitness
Formula One drivers are some of the most highly conditioned athletes on earth, their bodies specifically adapted to the very exacting requirements of top-flight single-seater motor racing.

Drivers' clothing
Formula One helmets are designed around the clear need to protect drivers' heads from the risk of major impacts. But the rest of his clothing has an equally serious purpose: offering the best possible defence against the risks of fire.

Engine / gearbox
The engine and transmission of a modern Formula One car are some of the most highly stressed pieces of machinery on the planet, and the competition to have the most power on the grid is still intense.

Flags
Marshals at various points around the circuit are issued with a number of standard flags, all used to communicate vital messages to the drivers as they race around the track. A special display in each driver’s cockpit - known as a GPS marshalling system also lights up when the flags are on.

Fuel
Surprising but true, despite the vast amounts of technical effort spent developing a Formula One car, the fuel it runs on is surprisingly close to the composition of ordinary, commercially available petrol.

HANS
HANS stands for the Head and Neck Support system, an innovative safety device that has been seen in other codes of motorsport for years, but which became mandatory in Formula One for the first time in 2003. Its purpose is simple: to massively reduce the loadings caused to a driver.

Helmets
One of the most important safety devices in Formula One racing is the driver's helmet. Although its fundamental shape may look very similar to those worn by drivers in the 1980s and even the 1970s, the underlying design and construction technology has changed radically over the years.

Overtaking

As only one driver can ever sit on pole position for a race, and the entire grid wants to finish on the top step of the podium, overtaking is of vital importance to the business of racing. Simplified to its most basic form overtaking is nothing more than gaining track position.

01. An F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly, it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!

02. Formula 1 cars have over a kilometre of cable, linked to about 100 sensors and actuators which monitor and control many parts of the car.

03. An F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds !!!!!!!

04. F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up on the other hand we expect our engines to last us for a decent 20yrs on an average and they quite faithfully DO....thats the extent to which the engines r pushed to perform...

05. When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph !!!

06. An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the prolonged exposure to high G forces and temperatures for little over an hour (Yeah thats right!!!)

07. At 550kg a F1 car is less than half the weight of a Mini.

08. In an F1 car the engine typically revs upto 18000 rpm,(the piston travelling up and down 300 times a second!!) wheres cars like the palio, maruti 800,indica rev only upto 6000 rpm at max. Thats 3 times slower.

09. The brake discs in an F1 car have an operating temperature of approx 1000 degees Centigrade and they attain that temp while braking before almost every turn...that is why they r not made of steel but of carbon fibre which is much more harder and resistant to wear
and tear and most of all has a higher melting point.

10. If a water hose were to blow off, the complete cooling system would empty in just over a second.

11. Gear cogs or ratios are used only for one race, and are replaced regularly to prevent failure, as they are subjected to very high degrees of stress.

12. The fit in the cockpit is so tight that the steering wheel must be removed for the driver to get in or out of the car. A small latch behind the wheel releases it from the column. Levers or paddles for changing gear are located on the back of the wheel. So no gearstick! The clutch levers are also on the steering wheel, located below the gear paddles.

13. To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and added downforce can be, small planes can take off at slower speeds than F1 cars travel on the track.

14. Without aerodynamic downforce, high-performance racing cars have sufficient power to produce wheel spin and loss of control at 160 kph. They usually race at over 300 kph.

15. The amount of aerodynamic downforce produced by the front and rear wings and the car underbody is amazing. Once the car is travelling over 160 kph, an F1 car can generate enough downforce to equal it's own weight. That means it could actually hold itself to the CEILING of a tunnel and drive UPSIDE down!

16. In a street course race like the monaco grand prix, the downforce provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down to prevent this from happening!

17. The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 litres of fuel per second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of an average 50 litre family car.They use the same refueling rigs used on US military helicopters today.

18. TOP F1 pit crews can refuel and change tyres in around 3 seconds. & 8 sec to read above point.

19. Race car tyres don't have air in them like normal car tyres. Most racing tyres have nitrogen in the tyres because nitrogen has a more consistent pressure compared to normal air. Air typically contains varying amounts of water vapour in it, which affects its expansion and
contraction as a function of temperature, making the tyre pressure unpredictable.

20. During the race the tyres lose weight! Each tyre loses about 0.5 kg in weight due to wear.

21. Normal tyres last 60 000 - 100 000 km. Racing tyres are designed to last 90 - 120 km (That's Khandala and back).

22. A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.(Water boils boils at 100C remember) At top speed, F1 tyres rotate 50 times a second.

So Formula Driving is not piece of cake, DEAR!!! No Wonder, thats why Michael Schumacher is the world richest Sports Person!!!!

Many people including some people working in an Internet security products company is unable to identify the SPAM emails. I got this spam email forwarded to me from one of my friends who himself is working for a software company. The mail goes like this.

Dear Reader,

I am writing this behalf of my loving husband. Everything was fine, me, my husband and our two children. We had a happy family. My husband was an Engineer in a big company. He comes home early and helps me with the house chores and plays with the children. Our dreams was shattered in front of our eyes last week. It was a drunk lorry driver, came on the wrong side and hit us and went. It killed my little baby girl and left my husband paralyed. My husband is still in the hospital. His brain is damaged and he needs a operation. I need 5 lahks to save his life. I collected about 3 lahks from my friends and family. I need another 2 lahks. I don't want to lose him. He was such a wonderful husband & father. He still doesn't know we lost our little girl. I am looking after my son now. Without my husband I won't be able to takecare of him.

Though there are Spam Blockers installed in the system, people anyway manage to get these kinds of email and forward it to their friends in their contact list. So it is in the hands of us, not to encourage these kinds of emails.

Whoooshhh.. I guess thats all......

To let you guys know before I start explaining as to what had all happ on that day.. I would like you all know the hero of the day.. The Organiser of the event .. Yeah thats'me.. he he he. Ok here it goes... me as usual arrived soon to office as there were some decorations and baloon blowing which had to be finished up to complete the entire decorations for the event. So as i started up I could see few of my colleagues just walkin in and gettin ready to party up. So with a few hazzles and jokes and also with the help of certain fellow mates could finally finish up the entire decorations and arrangements to get the day started. So @ around 9.30 am I could see The Galatta Gumbal... My team(the crowd) dancin in along with the music which was been played and takin up thier seats. So after a lot of shoutings, screaming and bangings I was finally able to make the team settle down for me to start up the event @ 10.30 am.

I started by givin up a small speech as to why we actually celebrate a day called FUNDAY which was followed with Cake cuttin and the awards ceremony for the performers of the team.. Then as I needed some time to start up my next event which was the Quiz, we had asked the new joinees in our team to express thier views as to how they feel within the team. After that the game started up by me splitting up the teams. Man I had a tough time setting up the questions for the quiz keepin in mind as to whether my guys would atleast answer a few which I had prepared. To my surprise I could see the guys fully geared up and shooting answers. Happened to be a great show and after abt 1 1/2 hrs.. the the quiz ended by declaring the winners . Photos enclosed (Yuva, harish, ramesh & Syed.. the winners).
So after the quiz I had planned to conduct the Dumb charades for which i had to spilt the teams again. I was served with a refreshing rose milk which gained me little more energy to conduct the next event for the day. Serious dudes.. this game was making people go MAD and crazy. A lot of acting skills which I had never seen in few of my coleagues were shown in great style to make thier team win. I had prepared only 2 topics for the game which involved Tamil & English movies. 5 solid rounds of each which ended up in a tie for the 2nd and 3rd place. Had a few more rounds to finalise the positions.

After a little of waiting we had settled ourselves for the yummy lunch (Biriyani) organised by yuva. Great lunch mon... all set and gearedup to conduct the next event for the day which was TAMBOLA (Famously called Lotto Housie). Sold the housie ticket at a rate of Rs.10 each. the full house cash amt was RS.250..First, middle & the last row cash amt was Rs.50 each. The game had a great start.. I could see the fellas catching thier heads ,bitting their nails to finish up any one row to bag the cash amt. After abt 1/2 hr of number screamings from the lot and gettin the winners for the first, middle & last row ... I heard a sudden bang on the table along with a scream who was none other than Vasanth (Colleague) who sprang up showing his ticket that he had the full house. Congragulated him and asked him to enzaiii with the cash amt.

As we had some more time to wind up the day, I decided to go on with an other game which was actually termed as Passing the item but which had turned out to be the best event for the day where people had the chances to rag few other fellas which they wanted to do for a very long time. The music was controlled by me via the laptop wherein the person who gets the item when the music stops has to perfom all kind of cranky things which thier colleagues tell them. The floor was full of laughter when each one performed diff acts. To give you guys a outline as what were the topics..naaa...cant say it.. this is a family blog guys. he he he.....

After a lot of laughter & enzaiment we finally winded up the day by giving few good poses for the cameras and dancin to few of our favourite tunes. I personally feel that this Funday had turned out to be a mega successful event and I take the pride in thanking all the fella mates who had helped me to organise the event and make it a grand sucess.

My great colleague also started painting up with that idea on my face but turned out to be something completely different from what we had actually thought..No clue what can i call this painting as. But looked little cool... So decided to be named as 24nallam pulikesi (in Tamil: irruvathi naallaam pulikesi).

Once, Newton came to India and watched a few Tamil movies that had his head spinning. He was convinced that all his logic and laws in physics were just a huge pile of junk and apologized for everything he had done.

In the movie of Vijaykanths, Newton was confused to such an extent that he went paranoid. Here are a few scenes.................................

1)Vijaykanth has a Brain Tumor which, according to the doctors can't be cured and his death is imminent.In one of the fights, our great Vijaykanth is shot in the head. To everybody's surprise, the bullet passes through his ears taking away the tumor along with it and he is cured! Long Live Vijaykanth!

2) In another movie, Vijaykanth is confronted with 3 gangsters.Vijaykanth has a gun but unfortunately only one bullet and a knife. Guess, what he does? He throws the knife at the middle gangster? & shoots the bullet towards the knife. The knife cuts the bullet into 2 pieces, which kills both the gangsters on each side of the middle gangster & the knife kills the middle one.

3) Vijaykanth is chased! by a gangster. Vijaykanth has a revolver but no bullets in it. Guess, what he does. Nah? not even in your remotest imaginations. He waits for the gangster to shoot. As soon as the gangster shoots, Vijaykanth opens the bullet compartment of his revolver and catches the bullet. Then, he closes the bullet compartment and fires his gun. Bang...the gangster dies...

This was too much for our Newton to take! He was completely shaken and decided to go back. But he happened to see another movie for one last time, and thought that at least one movie would follow his theory of physics. The whole movie goes fine and Newton is happy that all in the world hasn't changed. Oops, not so fast!

The 'climax' finally arrives. Vijaykanth gets to know that the villain is on the other side of a very high wall. So high that Vijaykanth can't jump even if he tries like one of those superman techniques that our heroes normally use. Vijaykanth has to desperately kill the villain because it's the climax.

(Newton dada is smiling since it is virtually impossible?)

Vijaykanth suddenly pulls two guns from his pockets. He throws one gun in the air and when the gun has reached above the height of the wall, he uses the second gun and shoots at the trigger of the first gun in air. The first gun fires off and the villain is dead.

Newton commits suicide..

Ride To Yellagiri

Hey Guys!!!! Immmm back. After reading this you guys should be knowing as to why this is one of my most memorable rides with my Unicorn. So here it goessss...... me with 2 of my office colleagues were just having tea on a bright wednesday evening and were discussing why not take our newly bought unicorns for a big ride down and check out what it is capable of. (Colleagues : Prabhakar & Prakash)... Prabha says... hmmmm where do you wanna go. I said ok let us ride down to vellore (hometown for Prabha) which would hardly take abt 2 1/2 hrs with a 15 to 20 mins break inbetween. You crazy.. my back would go for a toss ...says prakash who is just goin to be a pillion rider in any one of the unicorns. I said cmon guys dont backup on this, lets c whether we can make it up this weekend and maybe plan out to stay up in yellagiri by just extending our ride.. Both nodded there heads by giving a lot of thought into this.. and just moved up in continuing there regular work.

With a lot of hesitations and arguments we finally got our plan finalised and we get ready to set off on the saturday morning . So i had to clean up my bike and make sure whether i had all the stuffs necessary for the ride as soon as I returned from office on Friday. All set to gear up and zoommmm.. was the first thing i got in my mind after getting up at around 5 am on saturday morning. Gave a buzz to both the buggas to make it up at a common point which was vallasarawakkam petrol pump and start up the ride. All set and here we leave at 6am sharp from the petrol pump.

I was riding down at a good pace lets say approx.90 kmph after crossing poonamalle with prakash siting in the back. So the ride happ to be cool and calm as we had set out early. I found that my bike was responding to the ride in a great way which made us reach up the Hyundai factory (Tvs Track opp) in abt 30 mins where we had stopped for the morning tea.

Great tea and few buns had made me little brisk and set up for the big ride. All set and done by positioning our bags on the petrol tanks so that it doesnt cause any disturbance while riding down. So me and prakash were chatting a long way abt the normal office stories and blah blah blah.. So then decided after reaching kanchepuram , why not take some snaps on the highway. So decided to give few poses as if Iwas a freq rider on the highway. Prakash says... dei mappila overda?!@!! Seri seri...

So after a few stops down the highways and little bit of pain on the wrong places made us reach Vellore @ around 8.45 am. We went up to Prabhas house and refreshed ourselves along with few dosai's and a great cup of coffee served by his mom. Not much resting and we started to take up bikes now down to yellagiri. After a lot of advises from prabhas mom and dad we started up. Me and prakash thought of returning back to vellore by night as there isnt much to hang out in yellagiri as we were only 3 and there isnt much to enjoy out there rather than just ripping our bikes and returning back. A strong voice comes out from prabhakars side that.. Dei... We are staying up in yellagiri and returning in the morning no more deviation from the plan made out... Am I clear. Nothing much to argue upon this made me and prakash node our heads by symbolically saying Okie.....

There we go riding down to the greatest place which i have been hearing from my bros biker gang. This time I made prakash sit in prabhas Unicorn so that i could stretch certain parts of my body while riding without any disturbances... U should be knowing what I am trying to say.. We reached at a point where the hills actually starts and picked up few beers so that we could refresh ourselves on the hills.. While riding up the hills I found something fishy happ at this place. I see only couples riding up and down the hills and we 3 looked like monkeys with jackets and helmets on. Then ok thought maybe the place is always like this and was riding up. Prabha had some probs getting the bike up the hills as he is not used to riding bikes up the hills. So told him the way to ride up the bike with the faint knowledge I have abt bike mechanism, as I was also scared abt my baby riding up.

Finally we reached up our destination at around 4 pm and opened a bottle of beer each to celebrate the success of the ride. We started searching for rooms which was our priority and to our surprise we dint get any rooms at all. So we had told prabha cmon yaar lets make it down after spending an hour or so here. No way... we are staying up here by all ways and he went to a lodge with was a kind of a neat one but which seem to be a kinda of a suspicious place to stay up. Luckily we got a room with a rent of 300 Rs for the night. After having a small bath and refreshing ourselves we started walking down the roades finding out whats all special in this place and chatting and making fun. (@ around 9 pm).

We landed up at around 10.30pm in our room and had a few pegs of rum along with rotis and kurma which we had ordered . All tired and we were chatting for a long time and decided to hit the bed at around 1.30 am i.e sunday morning. Just when i was dozing off to get into my dreamland I hear bangs and loud noises at the door. We were shit scared as who r these knocking the door at this time. I was unable to get up and open the door as prabha caught my hand tight saying not to open the door as it may be gundas here. I said... WHATTTTTTTTT... you crazy., leave me yaar. After abt 5 mins of banging prakash rushes out of the other room which had an extra bed and opens the door... To our surprise we see people half naked along with the cops.. I just thought man what have we got into now. It was a raid done in the lodge were all the rooms were occupied by prostitutes except ours. As soon as they saw us the cops shoot up question at us.. who are you guys and why r you here.. hmm hmm hmm.. blank blank blank was the reaction from my great colleagues. I had to explain the cops coming one step forward that we work in chennai and had come down for a bike ride. Prabha had given up the vellore address in the lodge and when enquired he gave the chennais address which landed up in the cops taking away our mobiles.

The cops screams and says pack up your bags take ur bikes and come down to the station. I said great we r gonna have the ultimate fun now only after the cops just passed out of our room. It was 2 am pitch dark with dew gettin down our heads . We land up at the station were i get to stand abt 10 steps away from the laughing prostitutes. I thought maybe they are used to this..my god..thinking and waiting finally a cop calls me and says now tell whats up with you guys and why did u stay here. Had to explain the entire story slowly and carefully. After a few question and answer sessions the cop says at the end says .. ok sign the paper over here and take ur mobile and u buggas should leave this place in the next 15 mins. Whossssssssssshhhhhhhh was the reaction from us after we stepped out of the station which was not at all necessary if the cops had listened to us in the room itself. We rushed to our bikes and made it down the hill.

There was a lot of confusion goin on when we were riding down as to what to do next.blah blah blah blah all goin on between us. I said lets kewl down now and check out a nice place to sit down , maybe in a 24 hr tea shop on the highway and get back to vellore at around 6 am. Luckily we found a calm place to sit and had a beautiful cup of tea . I was actually laughing out loudly in the tea shop making fun at both of my colleagues and thier great reactions when we were enquired. And i said finally eventhough we try to forget we would never ever forget this trip as we planned out something and it turned out to be something else.

After a few chit chatting with a couple of teas we reach up vellore at around 7 am on sunday morning and hit the bed straight .zzzzzz..zzzz.. a peaceful sleep until 12 pm . Had lunch and packed our bags ,me along with prakash rode down to chennai while prabha wanted to stay back for few days in vellore.
